Typical Applications
Thermal circuit breakers (circuit protectors, resettable fuses, circuit breakers for equipment protection) are ideally suited to overload protection of motors, transformers, magnetic valves, on-board electrical systems and low voltage lines.
Technology
The trip time of thermal circuit breakers depends on the height and of the duration of the overload current and the ambient temperature. With higher current ratings, the bimetal or hot wire is heated up until the defined trip time is reached and the device ensures genuine physical isolation of the contacts.

Ideally suited to protect against overcurrent and short circuit of equipment in telecommunications, process control and other industrial applications where sophisticated equipment requires a high precision performance.
Technology
A latching type bimetal is combined with a magnetic coil to ensure protection and genuine physical contact isolation. This provides the joint benefits of delayed operation for low level overcurrent protection and fast magnetic action of higher value short circuits, disconnecting the faulty circuit within milliseconds.

Ideally suited to protect against overcurrent and short circuit of printed circuit boards, semi-conductors and telecommunications equipment.
Technology
Circuit breakers with magnetic or hydraulic-magnetic trip mechanism respond extremely fast and provide genuine physical contact isolation. Magnetic trip ensures disconnection of the faulty circuit nearly without delay in the event of short circuit, but also in the event of low overloads. Our models also provide hydraulically delayed switching characteristic required for certain applications.

High performance circuit breakers are ideally suited to protect against overcurrent and short circuit for use in aircraft and vehicles and other specialised equipment where safety is paramount. Battery isolation switches are ideally suited for installation in the main battery systems of heavy duty vehicles including tankers, boats, off-road plant and other battery-powered equipment.
Technology
High performance circuit breakers feature thermal or thermal-magnetic trip and an extremely high rupture capacity. Battery isolation switches are also based on a thermal-magnetic trip mechanism. The thermal part of the circuit breaker provides delayed protection in the event of overload, the magnetic part disconnects the faulty circuit in the event of overload or short circuit within milliseconds.
Customized High Performance Circuit Breakers such as SG, AP or CBM types are available on request. All products of this group provide genuine physical contact isolation.
The protective function of thermal-magnetic battery isolation switches and DC disconnects is achieved by the combination of temperature and magnetic force.
The thermal element of the circuit breaker protects by tripping with a time delay upon rising temperature caused by overload. The magnetic element responds without time delay to high overload and short circuit currents. It disconnects the faulty circuit within a few milliseconds.
Electronic circuit protectors are purely electronic overcurrent protection devices. Electronic circuit breakers, however, offer mechanical disconnection in addition to the electronic trip, i.e. genuine physical isolation (bimetal).
Electronic overcurrent protection (DC)
Devices for DC applications are ideally suited to selective protection of system components in industrial plants whose voltage supply is provided by a DC switch mode power supply.
Electronic overcurrent protection (AC)

Electronic overcurrent protection prevents dips of the output voltage of switched mode power supplies both in the event of short circuit and overload. At the same time these devices provide selective protection or disconnection. Switching high capacitive loads and indicating a functional error is possible without any problems. Fault indication is by means of LEDs and auxiliary contacts. This helps with trouble-shooting and increases machine run times.
Engineering
Electronic overcurrent protection by means of electronic AC circuit breakers is ideally suited to the selective protection of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) in industrial plants. These solutions ensure the power safety through AC UPS systems.
Technology
Electronic overcurrent protection provided by electronic AC circuit breakers prevents disconnection of th entire output voltage of UPS systems in the event of a short circuit as well as in the event of an overload. At the same time these products ensure selective protection or disconnection even under very unfavourable load conditions. Timer relays are especially suitable for the use in passenger cars, trucks, buses as well as construction machinery and emergency vehicles. They control pumps, valves or motors, which are meant to overtravel or stay open for a defined period of time. They equally control the co-ordinated, sequential switch-on of loads to avoid load peaks (e.g. with fans).

E-T-A timer relays combine a well-proven mechanical contact system with the flexibility of an electronic counter. When replacing a standard automotive relay, you can add ON or OFF delay or both.

They monitor frequencies and voltages as well as the corresponding switching of loads with a high power input. E-T-A multifunctional relays combine a well-proven mechanical or fully electronic contact system with a customer-specific software. The software allows many custom designed adjustments when replacing standard automotive relays which can be required during design, retrofit or adjustment of vehicles.
